When replacing oil. What is done to my car?

• Drain the old oil from the engine
• Replace the old oil filter with a new one
• Inspect the drain plug for damage and replace if necessary
• Add new oil to the engine to the correct level and type recommended by the manufacturer
• Check for any leaks around the oil filter and drain plug
• Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil
• Check the oil level on the dipstick and adjust if necessary
• Reset the oil change indicator light or mileage counter (if the vehicle has one)

• Lubricate certain components: The mechanic will lubricate specific parts of the engine and chassis, such as the ball joints, tie rods, and suspension bushings, using a grease gun or other lubrication tool.
• Check and top off other fluids: The mechanic will also check and top off other fluids, such as the transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and coolant.
• Inspect the vehicle: The mechanic will inspect the vehicle for any potential issues, such as worn belts, hoses, or brakes.

• Locate the oil filter: The oil filter is usually located on the bottom or side of the engine.
• Drain the old oil: Before removing the oil filter, it’s important to drain the old oil from the engine. This is usually done by opening the drain plug at the bottom of the engine and allowing the old oil to drain into a container.
• Locate the drain plug: The drain plug is typically located on the bottom of the oil sump, which is a large metal pan that collects oil at the bottom of the engine.
• Position an oil drain pan: Place an oil drain pan under the drain plug to catch the old oil.
• Remove the drain plug: Using a wrench, loosen and remove the drain plug. The old oil will start to drain out of the engine and into the drain pan.
• Allow the oil to drain: Wait until all of the old oil has drained out of the engine, which can take several minutes.
• Inspect the drain plug and washer: Once the oil has finished draining, inspect the drain plug and washer for any damage, cracks or leaks. Replace the washer if it is damaged or if it’s the type of washer that’s recommended for single use.
• Reinstall the drain plug: After inspecting the plug and washer, reinstall the drain plug and washer into the sump, tightening it to the manufacturer’s recommended torque setting.
• Remove the old filter: Using an oil filter wrench, the old filter is removed from the engine. It’s important to be careful not to spill any remaining oil in the filter.
• Install the new filter: The new filter is lubricated with a bit of fresh oil, and then threaded onto the engine by hand. It should be tightened by hand until it’s snug, then given an extra quarter-turn with the oil filter wrench.
• Refill the engine with oil: Fresh oil is poured into the engine, according to the manufacturer’s recommended oil type and amount. The oil level is checked with the dipstick to ensure it’s at the proper level.
• Start the engine: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes while checking for any leaks around the drain plug and oil filter.

• Locate the air filter: The air filter is typically located in a plastic box under the hood.
• Remove the old filter: The box is opened, and the old filter is removed from its housing.
• Clean the filter housing: The inside of the air filter housing is cleaned of any dirt or debris, ensuring that no debris enters the engine.
• Install the new filter: The new air filter is put in place, ensuring it fits snugly and properly in its housing.
• Close the air filter housing: The housing is closed, ensuring that it’s sealed properly.
